Description

A hearty skillet dish made with ground beef, cabbage, and rice.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) lean ground beef
  • 1 small head (approx. 900g) cabbage, chopped
  • 1 (approx. 150g) onion, diced
  • 2 cloves (approx. 10g) garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz / 425g) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14 oz / 411g) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup (185g) cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and onion in a large deep skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up the beef. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant, stirring constantly.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes (undrained), paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat the cabbage.
  4. Cover the skillet and simmer for 15-20 minutes over medium-low heat, or until the cabbage is tender.
  5. Stir in the cooked rice and heat through for 2-3 minutes, ensuring it’s well combined and warm.
  6. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
