Description

Delicious chocolate cupcakes topped with a rich buttercream frosting.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup heavy cream or milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar until well combined.
  3. Create a well in the dry mixture and add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Stir gently until just combined.
  4. Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with batter.
  5. Bake for 18–20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let them cool completely before frosting.
  6. For the chocolate buttercream frosting, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar while mixing and pour in cream/milk gradually until you reach your desired consistency.

Notes

  • Ensure the cupcakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
  • For a richer chocolate flavor, consider adding chocolate chips to the batter.
